How It Works

Our Engineering
Process

A rigorous, systematic approach from initial data collection to final deliverables — ensuring accurate, defensible results on every engagement.

01

Data Collection

Review existing single-line diagrams, construction drawings, and equipment specs. Coordinate with facility owners to supplement missing data and verify the system configuration.

02

System Modeling

Build a precise electrical model in SKM PowerTools. Input feeder impedances, transformer data, breaker ratings, and utility fault contributions for an accurate simulation.

03

Analysis & Calculations

Run short circuit, arc flash, and coordination studies per IEEE 1584-2018. Calculate incident energy, arc flash boundaries, and minimum PPE requirements for each bus.

04

Deliverables

Provide a PE-sealed engineering report, equipment arc flash labels, and risk-reduction recommendations. All documents signed and ready for OSHA compliance.

FAQ

Frequently Asked
Questions

Common questions about Arc Flash studies, compliance, and our engineering process.

How often should an Arc Flash study be updated?
Per NFPA 70E standards, an Arc Flash study must be reviewed and updated at least every 5 years, or whenever major modifications are made to the electrical distribution system that could affect the results.
Do your reports comply with OSHA audits?
Yes. All our studies are performed by Licensed Professional Engineers (PE). Our reports are signed and sealed, providing the legal and technical documentation required for OSHA 29 CFR 1910 compliance.
Do you provide physical labels or just the design?
We provide both. You will receive the comprehensive engineering report and high-quality, weather-resistant physical labels ready to be applied to your equipment in the field.
What information is needed for a quote?
Typically, we need your current single-line diagrams, the approximate number of electrical buses (panels, MCCs, switchboards), and the location of your facility. If you don't have diagrams, we can assist with data collection.
Do you work outside of Texas?
Yes. While we are a Texas-based LLC, we serve industrial and commercial clients nationwide. Our Professional Engineers are licensed to provide sealed engineering deliverables for projects across the USA.
